What's Up Wednesday, August 16, 2023 #81

Ken Tuley ·

This week on What's Up Wednesday, it's Poster Time!

The 2023 Official Balloon Fiesta poster is now available! Entitled When the Sky is Calling, the poster features a number of balloons floating over the valley and Rio Grande with the Sandia Mountains in the background. The scene is the creation of Kevin Short. Kevin grew up in Albuquerque, flew balloons in the early days of balloon fiesta and even worked at a local balloon repair station before he headed off to college to study art. These high quality serigraph prints are all numbered and available signed or unsigned. They measure 20 x 30 and will look great no matter where you display them.

If you'd like something a little smaller, we have made the same design in a metal print that comes with the hardware already attached for easy hanging. These metal prints are 8 x 11 and also come signed and unsigned. The metal really makes the colors pop.

We had an opportunity to chat with Kevin while he was in town personally signing these posters and metal prints. Be sure to check out that interview where Kevin talks about the inspiration behind the painting, his start in ballooning and what to look for in the poster. It's available here or by viewing the poster on the store.

And since we're hosting the 66th Gordon Bennett Gas Balloon Race this year, we have produced a smaller 11 x 17 poster to commerate that event. Designed by our own Jennifer Garcia, this poster depicts gas balloons lifting off into the Albuquerque sunset. The poster also features the compass rose and Route 66 sign as a reminder of the distances and directions the gas balloons fly when launching from Balloon Fiesta.

As we mentioned a couple of weeks ago, merchandise continues to arrive on an almost daily basis. There are many more items now available than we can feature here on What's Up Wednesday, so check out the New Arrivals category, or just browse the entire store for the latest gems.

Next week, more new arrivals make their debut here on What's Up Wednesday.

As always, thanks for you support of Balloon Fiesta and Balloon Fiesta Stuff. (51 days til burners on!)
