America's Drawing Cowboy

Greetings and welcome to my world of the wild and colorful west! What you see before you is a wonderfully vivid image of the by-gone era of the Hollywood cowboy hero created by my imagination in chalk pastel and color pencils. Yes, the by-gone days of Gene, Roy, Hoppy and Patsy Montana. I am currently the only artist in the United States creating such art based on the history of western film, music and lore. I pride myself in being completely imaginative, working on what moves me.

One of the great things about my work is that it speaks to people one way or another. What a feeling to see people look at my work and break into a big smile and share a story of their own family history! Priceless. I am a self-taught pastel artist, and feel that my "next piece" will be my best. My color pencil pieces provide me the opportunity to create more detailed creations, as opposed to my more spontanious pastel work.

I have found that over the years my work has appealed to quite a diverse crowd, some of whom are the "Cowboy kind" and others who simply appreciate the value of a good laugh and a "BIG" imagination! My works hangs in log cabins and penthouses, proving its ability to please all kinds of tastes.

I hope you will take the time to look closely at my work, for there is more there than meets the eye. I feel the execution is the real art, and I am happy if the overall image is pleasing. My inspiration along with the history of the Hollywood west, is art and artists of history. I love the Master's work, Monet, Picasso, etc.

I also lean towards the explosive pop art of the sixties and early seventies.

I am also inspired by my daughters, who are teaching me the value of life as a child, and all the wonder it holds along with the occasional "serious" issues, like "Daddy, your clothes don't match!"

Happy Trails!
